The flat is in a prime location—close to the city but tucked away from the noise. It’s on Tasman Street, near the end of Tory Street, directly opposite the Basin Reserve and the ANZAC Memorial.
Everything you need is within walking distance:

9-minute walk to the nearest convenience store
15-minute walk to Courtenay Place
29-minute walk to Victoria University’s Kelburn Campus
10-minute bus ride to Pipitea Campus
Directly across the road from Massey University
The flat is located in a secure apartment complex with shared facilities. The laundry room includes coin-operated washing machines and dryers—$4 per wash and $4 per dry. There are also washing lines available if you prefer to dry your clothes in the sun.
The room is positioned at the back of the complex, away from the road, making it very quiet and peaceful—no traffic noise, perfect for study and rest.
Flat Vibe: The flat has a respectful, friendly atmosphere. Flatmates enjoy the occasional chat in communal spaces like the kitchen or lounge, but everyone values each other’s privacy and keeps the place clean and tidy. It’s a calm, considerate, and easygoing home.
Flat costs There is no minimum or maximum stay required. The current lease has six months remaining, and you’re welcome to stay for as long or as short as you like—the only responsibility is that if you decide to move out before the lease ends, you’ll need to find someone to take over your room. Once that’s arranged, you’re free to move at any time. The lease will be renewed for another year once it has ended if you wish to stay longer.
The room rent covers the room only. Additional costs include WiFi at $22/month, and power, which typically ranges around $50/month, but is split fairly between the five flatmates. Power is calculated based on how long you’ve stayed during the month, so if you’re away for a portion of it, your share is adjusted accordingly. It’s system that works well and ensures everyone pays their fair share.
We also have a weekly chores roster that rotates between the five flatmates. The tasks include: vacuuming the lounge, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning the toilet, keeping the kitchen tidy, and taking out the rubbish. Each flatmate is responsible for one area each week, and the roles rotate weekly to make sure we’re all contributing to keeping the flat clean and comfortable for everyone.
